About the city

Nittambuwa is a city in the Western Province of Sri Lanka. It is located about 40 km from Colombo and 70 km from Kandy. The town is situated on the Colombo-Kandy highway. It was was the home town of several distinguished political leaders, such as Prime minister S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike, Prime minister Sirimawo Bandaranayake, President Chandrika Kumaratunga, Speaker Anura Bandaranaike.
